After Wednesday night’s 8/27/25 BTB Showtune-themed Summer Concert in the Park, I couldn’t wait to write about and congratulate everyone in the Barnstable Town Band for the completion of perhaps their most monumental successful summer concert season. In the course of a single season, the band was able to increase membership participation by approximately 80%! We also estimate an overall increase in combined audience size during eight 2025 concerts by about 50% over prior years!

A lot of this was done with help of a grant award received from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. The grant enabled us to purchase some sorely needed percussion equipment, a publicity banner, and some BTB-unique headgear that assisted in fostering pride and cohesiveness among band members and in bringing the organization and the community closer to each other. That unifying result has contributed to sustaining the increase in audience size demonstrated by the below audience photo that was taken during the intermission at Wednesday’s concert.

A great job was done by all this year and we hope to see each and every one of you, both band menders and audience members alike, again for the 2026 season!
